How It Works

FantasyForgeworks makes premium, animated VTT (virtual tabletop) tokens with cast shadows, multiple equipment loadouts, and optional magical VFX overlays. Here's how formats, pricing, and Patreon fit together.

Three formats, one token

Every token is sold on up to three format tiers. A higher tier includes the formats below it. It's not additive, so you never buy the same thing twice.

Static

A crisp, top-down still with a cast shadow. Perfect for print or lightweight VTT use.

Animated

A looping WebM that brings the token to life on the map: idle motion, breathing, flowing cloth.

VFX

Animated plus layered magical overlays (fire auras, frost, lightning, holy glow). The premium tier.

Loadout variations & VFX overlays

Loadout variations

Many tokens ship with multiple equipment loadouts (a fighter with a longbow, a sword-and-shield, or a greatsword), so one purchase covers several looks for the same character. Swap between them right in the arena preview.

VFX overlays

VFX tokens add layered elemental overlays on top of the animation. Adding VFX to a token you already own as Animated is a small upgrade (often around a dollar), not a full re-purchase, because your existing access is credited.

Works with your VTT

Tokens are delivered as clean WebM (animated) and WebP (static) files that drop straight into Foundry VTT, Roll20, and Owlbear. Resolution scales with token size (512 for Medium/Small/Tiny; 768 for Large; 1024 for Huge/Gargantuan).

Foundry users can skip the manual import entirely with our free Foundry VTT module (watch the demo). Browse the catalog in-app and drag owned tokens onto the canvas at the correct size.

On Roll20 and Owlbear Rodeo, install the free Chrome or Firefox extension to browse and drag owned tokens from a side panel. Zip import from your library still works on any VTT.

Packs: 70% off singles

Buy a themed pack at one format tier and every token comes at that tier (capped per token where a format isn't offered), for 70% off buying them individually.

Bundles: 80% off singles

Bundles group several packs for the deepest discount: 80% off buying them individually.

Never pay twice

Already own a token as Static? Upgrade to Animated and you only pay the difference. Same idea for Animated → VFX, and it works for whole packs and bundles too.

Bought in the store or unlocked through Patreon: both count as credit. You won't be charged again for a format you already have.

Patreon: starter library + 4+ packs a month, kept forever

Join and immediately unlock the Patron Starter Bundle — about 95 tokens at your tier's formats — plus every pack we publish while you're pledged (4+ packs a month). It's keep-what-you-got: everything you unlock stays yours forever, even if you later pause or cancel. Packs outside the Starter Bundle that published before you joined stay in the store (your patron discount applies). Patreon access also counts as credit toward any store upgrade.

License terms

Personal use is included with every purchase and every Patreon tier: use the tokens in your own tabletop games, streams, and personal campaigns. You may not resell, redistribute, or share the raw asset files.

Commercial use means using tokens in a product you sell or monetize (e.g. a published adventure, paid module, or monetized VTT content) and requires the Commercial Patreon tier, which grants a commercial-use license for the packs released while you're subscribed. Store purchases are personal-use only. When Commercial ends, keep-what-you-got downloads remain for pledged months, but commercial-use rights end with the entitlement.

A purchase or Patreon entitlement grants a license to use the files under those terms, not ownership of FantasyForgeworks' rights in the catalog. The assets are AI-generated and human-curated; you are not buying traditional hand-illustrated original art. Full terms are in our Terms of Service.

How tokens are made

Making a token is a mixed process. AI generation handles parts of the visual production; the rest is human work: ideation, curation, visual modifications, and finishing. What ships is reviewed and deliberate, not a raw press-and-publish export.

These are not hand-painted commissions, and FantasyForgeworks is not a marketplace of third-party illustrators. You're buying finished, VTT-ready assets from a catalog we build and quality-control end to end.
